Project Goal

With the desire to experiment with visual novel games as a storytelling medium, Serenity at Dusk was a thesis project aimed to illustrate a short fantastical story through an interactive experience. It is also involves visual development and animation of motion graphics. Over the course of development, Fungus, a Unity plugin, implementing the narrative, and building basic UI elements were all learning oppuntites while given little to no academic guidance.The game was developed over the course of 4 months and features 30 minutes of branching narrative with one ending.

After a huge fight with his roommates, Ivan finds himself in the apartment alone. As the sun rises and he considers whether or not going to work, he re-explores his apartment and reminisces about past experiences. He’s reminded of the importance of family, friends, and respite.
